Mount Vernon Baptist Church is grounded in the conviction that the Church belongs to Jesus Christ and must live according to His Word. Our mission is not a slogan. It is a biblical charge that shapes how we worship, how we serve, how we disciple, and how we engage the world around us.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

We believe that as baptized believers in Jesus Christ, there should always be a standard in our lives that demonstrates itself in our worship, fellowship and stewardship. We should always love one another, and be ready at all times to present the plan of salvation to those who have never accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

We also believe that we, the Church, should never neglect our responsibility given by Jesus Christ to be sensitive and supportive to the lost, less and the least of them. And that the Holy Bible is without error, God’s inspired Word in which we should always live and govern ourselves by.

At Mount Vernon, this mission is lived out through preaching, teaching, discipleship, outreach, Christian education, youth development, worship, community engagement, and compassionate care. It is reflected in the church’s spiritual life and in the practical ways it ministers to members, families, and the surrounding community.

We believe in salvation through Jesus Christ, in the authority of the Bible, in faithful worship, in service to others, and in spiritual growth for every believer. We believe the church must remain both spiritually sound and socially responsible, never forgetting the call to love, support, and serve.

As Scripture says, “And let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom” Colossians 3:16, and “Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only” James 1:22. That spirit continues to define Mount Vernon Baptist Church.
